The best ingredients for the skin are fresh now and can be found at any local supermarket, organic food store or farmer's market. From late spring to early fall, produce in the form of fruits and vegetables are bountiful. Exploring all the options is a full time summer job. But we don't want to make it work, and believe us it isn't.
Just about any fruit or vegetable can be used on the skin with amazing results. Did you know that an avocado makes a great moisturizer, mask and massager? Combine a cooked mashed carrot (high in beta-carotene and anti-oxidant vitamins), some heavy cream (high in calcium and protein), a mashed avocado (a rich source of vitamin E) and a few tablespoons of honey (natural humectant) to make a paste that is spread over the face. Relax for 15 minutes and rinse with cool water. Wondering about the massaging avocado? Just use the avocado pit to massage into tired muscles or better yet...roll under the feet for a relaxing foot massage.
Experiment with papaya, strawberries, honey, melons, bananas (one of our favorites) and combine with either a bathe (see main article this month) or a full exfoliation. Whatever way to choose, you can't go wrong with fresh.
