Before heading into the hectic and inevitable busy holiday season, take a close look at a common yet amazing oil, eucalyptus.
A staple in every good spa, this oil is best known for aromatherapy. As a mental tonic, eucalyptus has the ability to stimulate the senses, improve concentration and promote the feeling of well-being.
With the start of winter, colds and the flu start appearing and we find ourselves coming down with congested chests and stuffy heads overnight. With that in mind, eucalyptus oil works to clear congestion, destroys circulating bacteria and boosts the immune system. This oil also works as an effective pain reliever and can be rubbed into strained and aching muscles creating relief.
HOW TO:
Breathe deep: Add 3-5 drops of eucalyptus oil to 1 quart of simmering water and inhale the steam with a towel draped over your head for 15 minutes.
Rub it in: Mix 3 drops of eucalyptus oil to a tablespoon of almond or grape seed oil and rub into chest as needed for congestion.
Muscle relief: To soothe muscles after a long day of holiday preparations, add 10 drops of oil to a warm bath and relax.
Tropical Magnolia or Champak is renowned for its cooling and healing powers with specific anti-malarial properties. Its petitie web of elegant white petals exudes a scent as sweet as syrup. Like most of her sisters, it is used in prayer ritual and for bathing.
